Time-loop games that don't waste your loops
Time loops are having a moment on mobile, and most of them get it wrong. The lazy version just makes you replay content with a slightly faster skip button. The good ones make the loop mean something.
The Longest Tuesday is my current example of doing it right. Every replay of the same day changes because you know more, not because the game unlocked a new area. Knowledge is the progression, and that's the trick.
When I test a loop game now, I ask one question: does repeating feel like learning or like grinding? If I'm mashing skip to get back to where I was, the loop is decorative.
A small tip for playing these: don't rush to 'solve' them. Waste a loop on purpose, talk to the character you'd normally ignore. The writers usually hid something for people who explore instead of optimise.
The genre isn't tired yet. It's just crowded, and the good ones are worth digging for.
